Garff Commissioners are asking dog owners only use the dog bag dispensers as an 'emergency option.'
It comes following reports that some people are taking a batch of bags as they pass, meaning they have to be filled more regularly at an additional cost for ratepayers.
Commissioners say removing the dispensers would be 'a draconian step' that is not currently being considered, as the majority of the Island's local authorities don't provide this service.
The Board thanks the majority of dog owners for using the facilities responsibly.
