The Department of Education, Sport and Culture says it's negotiated a pay deal with four teaching unions.
The Association of School and College Leaders, the National Association of Head Teachers, the National Education Union, and the University and College Union have all accepted the department's offer.
But the largest teaching union on the Island, the NASUWT which represents around 70 per cent of teaching staff, is planning strike action for Wednesday and Thursday.
The strikes mean the vast majority of pupils have been told to stay home, and the department says it'll issue a further update on Monday.
