Firefighters say a toaster in a flat in Douglas sparked an incident on Douglas promenade this morning.
The Fire and Rescue Service was called to Millennium Court Apartments on Queen's Promenade shortly after 10.30am.
They dealt with a kitchen fire in a third-floor flat - its occupant was helped to safety by neighbours.
Fire crews have paid tribute to the quick thinking of residents.
