Fire Service will struggle with more cutbacks

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service is warning that continued cuts will make it more difficult to deliver the level of service the Island is used to.

The importance of the fire service has been highlighted by a number of major events over the last year, from the snow last March to the recent flooding.

With the Budget looming it is likely the Department of Home Affairs will be forced to make major savings, which has in the past resulted in cuts to front line services.

The police has already warned more cutbacks within the constabulary could see an end to neighbourhood policing.

Chief fire officer Kevin Groom says the situation is getting increasingly more difficult:
