Solutions Being Sought to Overturn £182,000 Defecit
Education and Children Minister Eddie Teare has spoken to 3FM about the latest developments concerning the job cuts at the Isle of Man College Refectory.
He’s said there’s been some very positive developments of late and work is now ongoing to see how they can save the money required to save the 17 jobs.
Earlier in the week he said he'd had a very positive meeting with the affected staff and their union member.
The problem stems from a £182,000 defecit stemming from the Refectory.
The affected workers have been asked to come up with possible ways that make the substantial savings, then continued measures down the line to ensure that it doesn't happen again.
The workers have till September to come up with how they can save £85,000 a year.
