After another night of freezing conditions motorists will be driving to work again with ice on the roads.
It’s been particularly bad over the past fortnight with black ice reported across the whole Island, with some minor road traffic collisions as a consequence.
A warning has gone out to drivers to remember not to break when you hit ice, and to also try to keep a 6 second gap between you and the car in front in the event they need to stop suddenly.
The warnings have come from full time Driving Examiner Andrew Holmes, he also promoted the importance of ensuring your car is ready for icy conditions and said it’s essential you make sure you have maximum visibility before you embark on your journey with a clear windscreen.
He also urges motorists to be on their guard when driving around residential areas, with some pedestrians opting to walk on the roads due to icy pavements.
