A man police spotted staggering out of a Douglas hotel got into his car to drive home, a court’s heard.
45 year old Richard Teakle of East Baldwin pleaded guilty to drink driving at Douglas courthouse before magistrates.
On January 31, officers watched him leave the Best Western Hotel on Queens Promenade in Douglas at around 10pm - he was unsteady, but got in his vehicle and drove off.
He was stopped near the Terminus Tavern pub and failed a breath test before a blood sample given at police headquarters showed he was over the limit.
Teakle was disqualified for 12 months, fined £750 and will have to pay a further £125 in prosecution costs.
