The Department of Infrastructure says don't panic - it could still help feed the Island if Douglas Harbour was out of action.
A Freedom of information request asked for details of any emergency plans to deliver food that would come into operation if Douglas Harbour and its two link spans were inoperable.
In its response the DOI says it has planned for just such an emergency - with vessels using the north side of Victoria Pier in Douglas for passengers and freight.
It also said small container vessels could deliver food to Victoria Pier, Commercial Quay in Ramsey, and Peel Breakwater.
