The Department of Infrastructure says it doesn't know how many cherished car registration plates have been sold.
A freedom of information request asked for the number of plates sold in the past five years.
But the department says it can't tell how many have been sold by the Isle of Man Post Office - only how many it's sold online.
The figures released reveal the department has sold just over 1,500 plates for a total of around £527,000 in five years - an average of just under £350 a plate.
