DHSS Minister Requests Crunch Meetings with UK Secretary of State About Reciprocal Health Agreement
The Department of Health and Social Security Minister Eddie Teare has written to the UK Secretary of State Andy Burnham MP to request a meeting to discuss the recent termination of the reciprocal health agreement.
In the letter the DHSS Minister states that decision was met by public outcry on the Island.
He also writes that the decision to request a meeting came about following increased pressure from both within the Island and through contacts within the UK Government, who feel the move could be detrimental to both parties.
As it
stands the agreement will be terminated on 1st April 2010.
