EMI Unit Gets Brought Forward by 9 Months
Plans have been put in place to bring forward the development of a major Elderly Mental Infirm Unit in Ramsey by 9 months.
It’s touted as a large capital project with £3,436,000 being spent on it.
The unit will care for patients with dementia or a similar illness that experience difficulties with daily living.
It will be able to cater for 16 patients at a time, patients who used the old facility have been transferred to Douglas in the interim.
Social Care Minister Martyn Quayle said as well as benefiting the construction industry the acceleration of the plans will mean the patients who were moved in the first instance will be able to return to familiar surroundings.
