Clamp Down on Personalised Plates
The Department of Infrastructure have put out a warning to motorists on the Isle of Man to ensure their car number plates comply with the set guidelines.
The Department say the plates are often an expression of individuality, with some appearing to be deliberately difficult to read, this can potentially cause issues for the Police and plate recognition equipment, which is used to check for valid car insurance and road tax.
The clampdown is also in an effort to bring about a uniform and consistent number plate system on the Island.
Anybody seen to be not complying will receive a letter from the Department urging them to make the required changes.
If the motorist still persists to keep their personalised plate then the Police will get involved.
