Police are appealing to motorists to show more respect to cyclists - and avoid tarring them all with the same brush.
Officers took to social media today to remind drivers that cyclists are people too, and to give them a wide berth when overtaking.
They urged people not to judge all pushbike riders on the actions of an irresponsible few.
On Twitter, police said "they too want to get home safely to their families".
Calling all road users: Remember the next time you are out and about and come across a ‘bloody cyclist’ that they are still a human being just like you. Please take care extra care if you have to pass a cyclist, they too want to get home safely to their families. #DriveSafeIOM pic.twitter.com/8g4HrmpqcP

I was on my pushbike the other day. I saw a car go through a red light. I now think all car drivers go through red lights. *This argument clearly doesn't make sense, why use the same one for cyclists*
