The company which planned to drill for gas off the Island's northeast coast still owes the government £22,363.
Crogga Ltd, which withdrew its proposals in March, is in debt to the Department of Infrastructure.
The figure was given by Treasury Minister Alex Allinson, in response to a question in the House of Keys from Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas.
Dr Allinson explained he could not give an update on the recovery of the debt, but some has already been paid off:
