Douglas Council says it's to spend more than £71,000 on a temporary playground and railings in the sunken gardens on Loch Promenade.
The local authority had plans for a £1.4 million grand refurbishment, but is unwilling to press ahead with the project until the government improves the prom's flood defences.
However, members voted to spend £40,000 on temporary equipment that can be relocated, and £31,500 to replace more than 200 feet of perimeter railings.
The council is due to sit this month from 2.30pm on Wednesday, July 8 in City Hall on Ridgeway Street.
