Commissioners say they're hopeful the Northern Civic Amenity Site can remain open - as it faces closure in April.
A meeting of Garff's local authority heard the current amenity site committee would hand the keys to the site back to the Department of Infrastructure at the end of April.
Members were told the DOI is still considering options for the site.
Commissioners said they hoped arrangements to keep it open to the public would be announced soon.
