Douglas lifeboat was called out in the early hours of the morning to help search for a missing person.
Just before 12.30am crews rsponded to reports and set off in gale force 6 to 7 winds, working against a rough sea.
Workling alongside Douglas Coastguard, the team searched Marine Drive from Douglas Head lightouse to the Toll Gates.
They used parachute flares and searchlights but were told to stand down and return to station as the missing person had been found elsewhere.
