Cav seals deal in top designer stamps

Paul Smith

The Post Office had told 3FM that Mark Cavendish played a huge role in getting iconic designer Paul Smith to produce the island’s upcoming Olympic souvenir stamps.

The general manager of stamps and coins at the Post Office, Dot Tilbury, said the Tour de France hero is a close friend to the English fashion designer.

Smith himself once had ambitions to be a professional cyclist until a racing accident led him to pursue other interests.

He’s now regarded as one of the finest designers of his generation.

Mrs Tilbury said that the Laxey cyclist was instrumental in ensuring the services of Smith and the collection of stamps will soon be on sale (see audio).
