Castletown commissioners chairman Tony Brown says the local authority has reduced its rates - despite bills rising.
In an update on social media, he said a number of people in the town had expressed doubts the board had cut rates this year.
He says the local authority had reduced both its general and refuse charges this year.
But he added water and sewage rates, set by government, had both risen - explaining why people's total bills have gone up.
