Candidate calls for fresh legislation after missing vote saga

A General Election candidate has called for the Isle of Man's election legislation to be revisited after her concerns over missing votes were proved accurate. 

Louise Whitelegg - who stood unsuccessfully in Ayre and Michael - claimed she couldn't 'get the numbers to add up' following the result on September 22nd. 
 
It transpired that 103 ballot papers were missing due to human error - a report from the Acting Attorney General claimed a 'robust reconciliation process' would have captured these errors.
 
Louise says we cannot afford to have 'question marks' hanging over our democratic process: 
 
 
The report also found the returning officer had committed an unlawful act by opening the sealed ballot papers to check the result - a decision has been taken not to prosecute him.
