Budget blamed for higher utility rates

Electricity, water and sewerage rates are set to spike:

 
That's the Manx Utilities Authority chairman - it follows an announcement that it's increasing rates by an average of £5.60 per month for each consumer. 
 
Electricity unit prices will reduce from 16.25p per unit to 16p from April 1st - however there'll be a standing charge rise from 15p per day to 19.5p. 
 
Water rates are on the up by 2.3 per cent and sewerage will climb to 92p in the pound - Alf Cannan attributes the changes to high debt servicing costs:
