Ben-my-Chree returns as travel restrictions ease

The Steam Packet Company has confirmed a new schedule ahead of upcoming changes to the Islands borders.

From Friday, July 24, there will be two daily sailings between the Isle of Man and Heysham on the Ben-my-Chree and the Manannan will carry out journeys between the Island and Liverpool from Friday to Sunday each week.

It comes after government announced earlier this week the Island will move to stage four of its borders strategy from July 20, which will allow Manx residents to travel freely to and from the UK and beyond as long as they quarantine for two weeks on their return.

Island residents must have a Manx Entry Permit to ensure they can return and need to complete an online Government Landing Form prior to travelling.

The borders remain closed to non-residents unless they have been granted an exemption certificate.

Meanwhile, Steam Packet Chief Executive, Mark Woodward, says: "This schedule is available for Manx residents who can self-isolate on their return for 14 days.

"It will see the Ben-my-Chree provide a twice-daily service for both freight and passengers to Heysham and a link to Belfast. Manannan will also provide a passenger service to Liverpool.

"Throughout the pandemic, our team has worked within strict parameters and the safety, wellbeing and protection of our passengers and staff remains our number one priority with easy-to-follow guidance in place for those travelling on our vessels."
