"Bad Things about the Isle of Man" video released by Douglas Councillor

A Douglas Councillor has made a video highlighting all of the 'bad things about the Isle of Man'.

Frank Schuengel uploaded the video earlier today - specifically highlighting the cost of living, shopping, travel and racism.

Mr Schuengel describes himself as a 'fan of the Isle of Man' and 'advocate for moving to the Island, alongside highlighting the good things about it'.

However, he says to give a 'balanced view' he has made the video to show the 'not so good bits' about living here.

He talks about the size of the Island - both geographically and socially - specifically focusing on if someone ends up in court.

Mr Schuengel says if you do appear in court - your full name and address will appear in the media - something he finds 'utterly unacceptable'.

Further, he discusses the cost of living crisis, saying 'it's getting incredibly expensive to live here', adding he's 'really worried about the Winter'.

He talks about the difficulty of living on an Island when it comes to travelling - with it adding an 'extra step' having to travel to the UK before you reach your final destination - adding extra time, cost and enhancing the possibility of delays/cancellations etc.

Further, he talks about the Island's only airport - Ronaldsway - describing it as a 'dump' in previous years and 'badly managed'.

Shopping is a topic the Councillor also highlights - saying the Island 'doesn't have the big UK high-street chains' resulting in 'gaps in the high street', calling our over-all shopping experience 'limited'.

Healthcare - according to Mr Schuengel this can be 'not so great at times' including the likes of waiting lists, problems, issues - particularly within Noble's A&E department.

Lastly, he brings up 'racism and discrimination' - he calls it a 'problem as it is a problem anywhere' - but believes the Island has become more 'tolerant and colourful' in the last 20 years.
