The head of Age Concern IoM has said the charity is keeping a close eye on developments with state pensions in the UK.
The British government wants to combine the UK state pension and any additional pension payments to make a single-tier system.
This would mean a single payment of almost £143 a week and affect people of pension age from the year 2017.
A person would have to contribute towards their national insurance for at least 35 years to be eligible for payment.
