It's the Department of Infrastructure's policy to introduce a 20mph speed limit on residential roads, towns and villages
In Tynwald this week, Douglas MHK Ann Corlett asked the Infrastructure Minister if he'd consider implementing the limit in rural areas.
Tim Baker confirmed it's the department's policy to do so and designs have been prepared for Port St Mary, Castletown and Peel.
Consultation is underway with the local authorities concerning the implementation - Douglas, Ramsey and Port Erin will be assessed over the coming year.
Mr Baker said as Douglas is a key area the works will be split into areas and neighbourhoods, with special attention given to residential areas around schools.
