Works on lower end of Victoria Road start today

A reminder for motorists that works on part of a busy road in Douglas will see a near 7-week closure, from today.

Last month, the Department of Infrastructure confirmed it would be resurfacing the lower section of Victoria Road.

Works, set to start today are only due to be finished by Saturday, April 8.

They'll be from just below the junction with Stanley Place (near Broadway) to just below the junction with Marathon Road.

The department says due to the narrowness of the carriageway - the road will be closed to through traffic whilst works are underway.

However a staged approach will be taken to minimise disruption, with full details below:

Phases

Phase 1 - Stanley Place to Eurocycles - Monday 20 to Saturday 25 February

Phase 2 - Eurocycles to Woodville Terrace - Monday 27 February to Saturday 4 March

Phase 3 - James Place tie in - Monday 6 March to Friday 10 March

Phase 4 - James Place to Princes Road - Monday 13 March to Saturday 25 March

Phase 5 - Princes Road to Marathon Road - Monday 27 March to Saturday 8 April

The Department is reminding people pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and businesses open as usual.
