The Island’s work permit system is set for an overhaul.
The existing 40-year old legislation will be brought up to date, making it significantly easier for an employer to hire someone from off Island.
Economic Development Minister John Shimmin says the ‘Control of Employment Bill’ will not negatively impact the local worker; it’s designed to grow the Island’s economy and expand the job market.
