Woodford's reputation 'ruined' by court case

Chef Kevin Woodford believes his reputation on the Island has been ruined after an attempt to rig the election he was a candidate in.

That’s according to Deemster David Turner who presided over a 34 day trial which centred on the 2010 Douglas East by-election.

Mr Woodford’s campaign team had tried to get him elected through the deliberate misuse of the proxy voting system.

His campaign manager, 57-year old Charles Lewin, received a three and a half year prison sentence for his part in the fraud.

Giving evidence at the trial Mr Woodford told the court that he was unaware of any election fraud taking place.

During sentencing Deemster Turner said he was horrified by what had happened and believes his reputation has been ruined.
