A woman who caused a crash in Douglas after jumping a red light has been fined.
Katherine Ann Sutherland of Fairy Cottage in Laxey appeared at Douglas courthouse this week.
The 35 year old pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention - a further charge of failing to conform to a traffic direction was withdrawn by prosecutors.
Becky Cubbon, prosecuting, told the court the incident happened at the junction of York Road and Woodbourne Road at around 2.15pm on October 15 and Sutherland told police she thought the light had turned green.
Defence advocate Darren Taubitz said there seemed to be some confusion over what had really happened, and cameras designed to catch drivers going through the lights weren’t working.
He said the crash, which overturned the other car, had been a momentary lapse of attention and his client was truly remorseful.
Magistrates fined Sutherland £300, ordered her to pay £50 costs and imposed four penalty points on her licence.
