Wheelie bins in Douglas are being microchipped to see how much waste is being produced.
It’s part of a larger inspection of the condition of the bins which will see damaged units being replaced.
Douglas Council says it will not be in an attempt to monitor waste disposal habits.
Councillor Ritchie McNicholl says there is a simple reason behind this approach:
Jurby Junk's Stella dies aged 90
No plans to publish UK's assisted dying letters
Burst water main disrupts Onchan supply
Government advice following spike in data breaches
Plans for four-foot flood walls at Ramsey harbour
Garage blaze in the early hours of this morning
Art anarchists "hiding gold bars" in Douglas this week
No cases of terror financing through charities
