The ongoing heatwave has been attributed to bringing the Island’s waters to life with a host of different sharks, whales and dolphins spotted.
After 3 consecutive poor years for basking shark sightings numbers are already up, despite there being low levels of plankton currently.
It’s enabled the research teams to tag a number of the gentle giants which will aide their studies into their winter habits.
Eleanor Stone of the Wildlife Trust gave us a rundown of what sightings have been reported so far:
