A yellow weather warning for ice will be in force on Island tonight.
The met office notice is in place from 9pm this evening until 9am on Saturday morning.
Forecasters say upland roads above about 800ft are the most likely to be affected.
Officials say showers this evening may fall as hail or sleet on higher ground which could lead to icy patches on any untreated damp or wet surfaces.
