Weather cited as reason for Ronaldsway July figures

Bad weather has been blamed for a fall in passenger numbers at Ronaldsway Airport.

Last month just over 61,000 people travelled to and from the airport which was 1,700 fewer than in July last year. 

It represents a 2.7 per cent decrease in passenger traffic. 

A cutback in flights to Luton and the absence of the Southampton route, which last year generated over 1,850 passengers, have also been blamed for the disappointing figures. 

On a positive note the new routes to Norwich, London Oxford and the takeover of the London City route by British Airways all performed well. 

Airport Director Ann Reynolds says this is good news ahead of the quiet winter period:
