Hundreds of wellwishers gathered in Douglas yesterday to watch the Sir William Hillary launch from her slipway.
Douglas lifeboat station is to undergo a huge refurbishment and get a new lifeboat which doesn't need the ramp in the outer harbour.
Lifeboats from around the Island joined the volunteer crew to mark the occasion.
An open day at the RNLI station on South Quay attracted hundreds of people.
Video of yesterday’s fond farewell to the @RNLI Sir William Hillary lifeboat. Boats from Ramsey, Peel & Port St Mary were there too, re-creating the 1932 picture celebrating the centenary of the Tower of Refuge. Was a great crowd, emotional!#isleofman @BBCIsleofMan @ILoveTheIOM pic.twitter.com/E4WyIxC007
