The drug can cause people to become dehydrated leading to fainting, collapsing or having fits.

A warning has been issued by the Department of Health after a number of higher strength Ecstasy pills have been detected in the Island’s clubs and festivals.

Over the years the pills sold on Island have been made up of amphetamines, caffeine and other stimulants.

MDMA was first used to make the drug stronger in the 80s, but over the years the purity and strength has declined significantly.

The drug can cause people to become dehydrated leading to fainting, collapsing or having fits.

The warning goes out especially to anyone with a history of mental health problems, more information can be sought by contacting Drug Advice Service and Helpline, DASH.
