With less than a week to go until the Sports Personality of the Year Awards the Chief Minister has launched a rallying cry to the Manx public to get behind Mark Cavendish.
The Laxey cyclist is odds-on favourite to win the prestigious BBC award on Thursday night in what would be a landmark occasion for the Isle of Man.
Its been a momentous year for Cav, winning the green jersey in the Tour de France and more recently the World Championships.
Bookmakers have the Tour de France hero as favourite ahead of golf's Open champion Darren Clarke during a year in which he won the Tour's green jersey and World Road Racing Championship.
