Urgent call for reform of telecoms regulation

Cable and Wireless has called for urgent reform of local telecoms regulation after the Isle of Man ranked poorly in a new study.

It found that of the 37 countries Cable and Wireless operates in, the Isle of Man ranks 36th for having the most ineffective system of telecoms competition law and regulation. 

The company says the research, which was conducted by the legal firm Watson, Farley and Williams, indicates that the Island has one of the worst regulatory regimes in the world for telecommunications. 

Speaking to 3FM Andy Bridson, the chief commercial officer at Cable and Wireless, said this could be potentially damaging for the Island:
