Fire crews, coastguard and the Hazardous Chemical unit dealt with an incident on Fenella Beach yesterday.
A chemical drum was washed up on the beach in Peel with un unknown substance in it.
The area was closed off and fire-fighters in chemical protection suits were despatched to take samples of the drums contents.
It only caused a minor hazard so the beach was opened after an hour.
