Unite boss says public misguided by government

After lengthy discussions between the Unite union and government it appears a solution to the bus drivers’ lunch break dispute could soon be found.

Government identified that taking the paid break off the drivers would result in a £300,000 saving.

At the same time it would have worked out at roughly a 12 per cent pay cut to the workers, leading to mass opposition to the idea.

It was also recently alleged that the workers were threatened with the sack if they didn't agree to the new terms.

Head of the Unite union, Eric Holmes, said public support is key to to help the drivers in their dispute
