A man’s been remanded in custody after being accused of assaulting his girlfriend and police officers who arrived to help her.
Ryan Kneen of Close Y Lhergy in Union Mills appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The 30 year old admitted assaulting a police officer and resisting police but denies assault causing actual bodily harm in Royal Court in Onchan on November 19.
The court heard Kneen had been drinking with friends when he suddenly turned violent, and is alleged to have grabbed his girlfriend by the neck and pinned her to the bed.
When police arrived he kicked out and headbutted an officer.
Magistrates said the case was too serious to hear in a summary court and declined jurisdiction.
They refused to grant bail and Kneen was remanded in custody to appear again on January 27.
