Union chief hoping for Post Office pay dispute breakthrough in coming weeks

Fresh talks have been ongoing for nearly 4 months

It’s approaching 4 months since Post Office strike action was narrowly averted at the last minute and a new set of discussions were entered into between Post Office management and the Communication Workers Union.

The dispute centred on a pay increase the workers said they had been promised which had to be shelved when the Government announced their public sector pay freeze.

Union chief Terry Pullinger told 3FM that the talks that proceeded the cancellation of the strike have been the most productive they’ve had, saying he is confident both parties are working to find a favourable solution.

However he conceded that significant breakthroughs would need to be achieved soon if the talks were to continue on in a positive direction.
