The government says unemployment fell by around 10 per cent in September - but still remains far higher than last year.
In its latest report from the Economic Affairs Division, the government says 88 people found work or left the register over the course of the month.
That meant at the start of October there were 797 people still out of work, while the job centre had 213 full-time jobs and 197 part-time vacancies.
The report the International Labour Organisation's way of estimating unemployment would give a figure of 1,242 jobless people on the Island.
