UK Import ban placed on dangerous legal high known to be on Island

Bonsai has been identified as becoming a replacement substance for harder drugs

A legal high that has been detected on the Island and has had an import ban placed on it will now be seized and destroyed if any shipments are detected going through UK borders.

The dangers of phenazepam, or Bonsai as it’s more commonly known where only fully realised following a study from a Scottish University.

They say said the powder like substance is fast becoming a replacement for harder drugs.

Side effects can include dizziness, and loss of short-term memory, while withdrawal after prolonged usage can lead to seizures and in severe cases, death.

Drugs Advisory Service on the Isle of Man, DASH have said 'we are aware of its apparent use in the Island and would suggest anyone who does use it to contact us'

The import ban came into force at the end of last week.
