After a photograph was taken last week of a stranded seal trapped in rope, the Manx Wildlife Trust still say it’s too dangerous to try and rescue it.
Their Marine Officer, Lara Howe, says they’ve reached out to British Divers Marine Life Rescue, who are specialised in dealing with stranded marine life, and they’re currently in agreement that it would be too dangerous to attempt a rescue.
She adds that until the seal moves to somewhere more suitable, nothing can be done, but they are remaining in contact with the divers and urging the public to keep an eye out.
Founder of Beach Buddies, Bill Dale, highlights that there are still too many fishermen who throw their ropes and nets into the sea, with incidents like this being the result.
