Select committee to look into public service broadcasting

A Tynwald select committee has been set up to examine the future of public service broadcasting in the Isle of Man.

It consists of Speaker of the House of Keys, Steve Rodan, and MHK’s Richard Ronan and Zac Hall.

Aspects like cost and the delivery of services will be explored by the committee, which is yet to appoint a chairman.

The idea of forming a committee came from Community, Culture and Leisure Minister Graham Cregeen who put forward an amendment to a motion originally tabled by the Speaker in a previous Tynwald sitting.

As part of its investigations the committee will be speaking to the public and local broadcasters to try and ascertain how people want to see public service broadcasting progress.

It’s anticipated they will report back their initial progress early in the New Year.
