The Office of Fair Trading is warning people to turn off their tumble dryers after a warning about some Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda machines.
It says some machines made between 2004 and 2015 can catch light if fluff hits the heating element.
You can visit safety.hotpoint.eu to find out if your tumble dryer is affected.
The OFT says engineers will modify your tumble dryer free of charge - but if you're still waiting, you should unplug it until it's been fixed.
