Tributes are being paid to a local footballer who died in Liverpool this weekend.
26-year-old Louis Thornton – the captain of Corinthians AFC – was found dead in a hotel room on Saturday morning.
His club took to social media to lead the tributes to him saying their thoughts go to his ‘family, friends and teammates at this sad time’.
They’ve also invited people to visit their pitch to pay their own respects and leave floral tributes.
Other football clubs have also expressed their condolences– Peel AFC says it’s ‘deeply saddened’ whilst Governors Athletic has described him as a ‘lovely lad who’s been taken too soon’.
