Over One and a Half Million Spent a Week on Department Upkeep
The new Treasury Minister Anne Craine has unveiled a strategy to 3FM designed to significantly cut down Government’s spending on goods and services.
It’s estimated that over £80 million a year is spent by Government on maintaining its departments, with the majority of that money going on things like vehicles and fuel, maintaining buildings and resurfacing roads. Energy and money saving lighting is being installed in the department buildings, which over time is expected to save a vast amount. As it stands the money spent on maintaining all aspects of the Government's Departments comes in at £1,500,000 a week. More plans are currently being formulated on where else money can be saved.
