Three collisions in one afternoon sparks police warning

Police are urging motorists to be more cautious after three collisions within the space of an hour and a half.

On Monday afternoon at around 1:15PM a car and bike collided in the area of the Hawthorn Pub.

Just twenty minutes later a bike came off the road at the Devil’s Elbow in Peel. The rider, a 54 year old man from the Douglas area was taken to Nobles Hospital where he was detained for his injuries.

An hour after these two incidents a car crashed with a telegraph pole bringing down the lines in the Greeba area.
The stretch of road between Crosby and Ballacraine was closed for almost 5 hours.

Police say drivers must take more care and do more to make sure the roads are safe and incident free.

Inspector Mark Britton of the Roads Policing Unit says; 'These collisions reinforce the need for drivers and riders to take more care. I feel that there is still more that we can all do to take precautions when driving or riding more carefully around the Island. We would like to appeal for any witnesses to the incidents mentioned and if anyone has any information about them to contact the Roads Policing Unit.'
