Isle of Man residents who are immunosuppressed will be offered a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
It comes following the UK’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation announcing earlier this week those aged 12 and over who are immunosuppressed should be offered a third jab.
Data shows some people with weakened immune systems might not be as well protected from the first two vaccines and are more likely to become seriously ill if they contract the virus.
The third jab will therefore, be used for further protection.
Those eligible will receive a confirmation letter and be offered the Pfizer or Moderna jab, or have the option of AstraZeneca if that’s what you’ve had previously.
Government has reiterated the extra dose differs from the potential booster programme, which will extend the protection from the first two vaccines.
